![]() ![]() Hypertech created the Power Programmer to access this "flash" memory and download the Hypertech Power Tuning program directly into the ECU's programmable memory. For comparison, the code stored in an early chip would fill one page now a typical ECU contains more than 1,600 pages of code! In addition to controlling basic engine functions, microprocessors now monitor and govern a wide range of systems, including the transmission, brakes, instrument panel, emission controls, and heating/air conditioning. Instead, engine tuning information is stored in the unit's programmable memory. Later generations of Electronic Control Units (ECU) eliminated calibration chips. Hypertech created the original Power Chips to recalibrate these electronic "brains" for improved performance. Early automotive computers used replaceable PROMs or "chips" to calibrate the Electronic Control Module (ECM) for a specific engine, powertrain, and vehicle combination. Hypertech has kept pace with these rapid advances in technology by developing power tuning products that take advantage of the capabilities of these electronic controls. Electronic engine controls have evolved rapidly since their introduction in the early '80s. Hypertech is the technology leader in high-performance engine tuning computer-controlled vehicles. We come from different backgrounds, but we have all learned to appreciate the tremendous power of electronic engine controls to improve performance on the street as well as on the race track. We build project cars and use our trucks for towing on weekends. You'll find modified trucks and street machines in our employee parking lot. We have racers, hot rodders, and performance enthusiasts on our staff. Hypertech people know computers from the inside out! The Hypertech team is passionate about performance. Our staff of engineers and technicians has degrees in a variety of disciplines, including electrical engineering, computer science, and mechanical engineering. The knowledge and skill of the Hypertech team are our most valuable assets. We have invested in people, not machinery. Unlike other speed equipment manufacturers that produce hard parts like camshafts and cylinder heads, our core product is knowledge the ability to tune the complex computers that control essential functions in modern automobiles. Hypertech is a technology-driven company with a unique status in the aftermarket industry. Trucks and SUVs will also get the TOW setting that increases the throttle response for additional power during take-off and maintaining speed up hills to minimize downshifting which is just what you need when you're towing or hauling heavy loads.Facebook link Twitter link YouTube link About The TRACK setting may take some getting used to because the power delivery is very aggressive and unleashes power that you never knew your vehicle had! The PERFORMANCE setting offers an aggressive throttle response which balances drivability and power. Stepping up to the SPORT setting offers quicker throttle response that delivers power much quicker than the factory settings, and really wakes up the power. The STREET setting greatly improves power delivery for improved drivability for everyday performance. The STOCK setting makes no changes to the throttle response. The MILEAGE setting steps power back modestly for a balance between economy and power. The HYPER-MILEAGE setting is a very aggressive reduction in power delivery compared to the factory settings to help squeeze the most out of your fuel mileage. These settings allow you to customize the power delivery to how you want it, and on properly equipped vehicles you can tailor these settings per drive mode. ![]()
